President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The nomination was announced in a statement released on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. President Tinubu has formally conveyed Oyedele’s name to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a post on his official X account, President Tinubu praised Oyedele’s track record: “Taiwo has served our nation diligently as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, leading the overhaul of our tax system with clarity, courage, and competence. His depth as an economist, accountant, and public policy expert will strengthen our fiscal architecture at a critical time.”
Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite has been redeployed to serve as Minister of State in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning—marking her third ministerial portfolio in the current administration. The President noted that “her experience across portfolios remains valuable to our reform agenda.”
Oyedele, a former Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PwC, has extensive experience shaping tax policies, debt management frameworks, and investment strategies across more than 30 African countries. His leadership on the Presidential Committee has focused on modernizing Nigeria’s taxation system, improving revenue mobilization, and supporting the administration’s ambition to position the economy firmly on the path to a USD 1 trillion milestone.
