Zimbabwe solidified its status as a premier tourism destination at the 3rd Association of Eastern and Southern Africa Travel Agents (AESATA) Conference held at Rainbow Towers in Harare.
The event, officiated by Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon. Barbara Rwodzi, drew delegates from 17 countries, including airlines, travel agents, tourism boards, and travel trade partners, uniting under the theme “Connect, Collaborate, Co-create.”
In her keynote address, Minister Rwodzi outlined six critical priorities to shape the future of African tourism: cross-border collaboration, digital connectivity, cultural exchange, sustainable tourism, infrastructure development, and regional events and festivals.
These pillars aim to harness tourism as a catalyst for Africa’s economic growth. AESATA President Moustafa H. Khataw echoed the call for enhanced regional accessibility and collaboration, urging stakeholders to strengthen partnerships to boost the continent’s tourism potential.
Delegates lauded Zimbabwe’s warm hospitality, vibrant culture, and rich cuisine, which left a lasting impression. The conference also featured a familiarisation tour to the iconic Victoria Falls, showcasing one of the world’s natural wonders and reinforcing Zimbabwe’s appeal as a leading regional tourism hub.
The event highlighted Zimbabwe’s commitment to fostering sustainable tourism and regional cooperation, positioning the country as a key player in Africa’s travel and tourism landscape.
