The Nigerian National Single Window (NSW) project is advancing steadily toward its operational target of early 2026, following a series of high-level review sessions at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Headquarters in Abuja.
Launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in April 2024, the NSW is a flagship initiative designed to simplify trade procedures, improve transparency, and strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in global commerce.
At the August 12th review meeting, Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, and NSW Director, Tola Fakolade, pledged to intensify inter-agency collaboration and align integration timelines.
In a follow-up session on September 16, Mr. Adedeji praised the pace of implementation, describing Customs Headquarters as the “official nerve centre” of the project. Fakolade confirmed the rollout of broad stakeholder engagement sessions across Nigeria’s four zones in October, alongside bi-weekly technical meetings to address operational bottlenecks. He also announced funding approvals to support MDAs with critical IT infrastructure.
CGC Adeniyi reiterated Customs’ full commitment to the project, affirming, “We are going to deliver on this mandate… I believe we will be right on target.”
Once operational, the NSW is expected to reduce cargo clearance times, cut trade costs, curb revenue leakages, and foster a seamless trade ecosystem, unlocking long-term economic benefits for Nigeria.
