The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has launched Msonkho Online, a cutting-edge web-based platform designed to streamline tax administration and enhance taxpayer convenience. The integrated system allows users to access a wide range of services, including filing returns, paying taxes, and monitoring transactions, all from a secure and user-friendly interface.
Henry Mchazime, MRA’s project communications manager, told The Nation that Msonkho Online features robust security measures, enabling taxpayers to track their transactions and flag suspicious activities with ease. “The platform reduces logistical delays and errors, offering 24/7 accessibility,” Mchazime said, urging citizens to embrace the digital tool.
Msonkho Online supports key tax administration functions, including registration, de-registration, assessments, audits, compliance, case management, objections, and appeals. It handles various domestic and international trade taxes, such as income tax, value-added tax, withholding tax, fringe benefits tax, provisional tax, turnover tax, and pay-as-you-earn.
The platform is a cornerstone of Malawi’s modernization program, aimed at boosting efficiency in tax administration. By providing a centralized, secure system, Msonkho Online empowers taxpayers and strengthens compliance, marking a significant step toward a more transparent and efficient tax ecosystem in Malawi.
