The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has welcomed Comptroller Benedict Oramalugo, PhD, as its new Customs Area Controller following the retirement of his predecessor.
Oramalugo, a seasoned officer with extensive experience in border management and trade facilitation, officially assumed office on February 11, 2025.
The formal handing-over ceremony took place at the ECOWAS complex of the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post (JBP), with journalists and key stakeholders in attendance. Deputy Comptroller Enforcement, DC Istifanus D. Musa, who had been overseeing the Command after the previous Controller’s retirement, welcomed Oramalugo and assured him of the officers’ commitment and cooperation.
In his inaugural address, Oramalugo acknowledged the dedication of officers within the Command and pledged to build on the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs. He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering an open-door policy and urged officers to enhance their capacities for improved operational efficiency.

Expressing gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and the NCS Management, Oramalugo appreciated the opportunity to serve in various capacities, including his previous role as the Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Command.

His tenure in Oyo/Osun was marked by notable achievements, including significant revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations. In December 2024, he was recognized for his outstanding contributions, receiving the Strategic Community Engagement for the Year Award, the Service Excellence Performance Award, and the Outstanding Controller of the Year Award at the CGC Awards.
With his wealth of experience, Comptroller Oramalugo is expected to strengthen border security, enhance trade facilitation, and drive the Command towards greater efficiency in line with the vision of the Nigeria Customs Service.
