The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has received a significant donation of a mobile workshop van and 3,000 torchlights from the German Federal Government through the German Federal Police.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Naana Eyiah noted that the donation is evidence of the strong bilateral relations between Ghana and Germany and their commitment to supporting Ghana’s development.
The Hon. Deputy Minister assured the German Federal Government that the resources will be used effectively and maintained properly to maximise the benefits of the items.
She also expressed profound gratitude to the German Federal Government for their generous donation to the Service.
The German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Daniel Krull, also commended GIS for their dedication to securing and managing Ghana’s borders. He emphasised the importance of the partnership between GIS and the German Federal Police in managing border security.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi noted that the mobile workshop van and torchlights will enable Immigration Officers to work more efficiently and effectively, especially in remote areas, and will also assist in training and capacity-building programmes for personnel.
This donation marks a significant boost to the efforts of the GIS in securing and managing Ghana’s borders and is a testament to the strong partnership between Ghana and Germany.
