President Akufo-Addo has appointed Madam Julie Essiam as the new Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), replacing Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah.
This decision follows the dissolution of the GRA Board, led by Dr. Anthony Oteng-Gyasi, amidst reported disagreements.
Madam Julie Essiam brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served as the Commissioner responsible for the Support Services Division of the GRA.
Prior to her appointment, she held the position of Group Executive at the Ecobank Group, overseeing operations across 40 countries worldwide.
A passionate advocate for sustainable transformation and development, Ms. Essiam has dedicated herself to youth empowerment and community development.
She is the founder of Africans4Africa (A4A), an organization aimed at fostering collaboration for impactful transformation across the African continent.
President Akufo-Addo’s swift action in appointing Ms. Essiam comes amidst recent criticisms leveled against the GRA by Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, regarding tax policies and business practices.
