The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has unveiled a self-registration module on the Tax-Pro Max platform.
The announcement came through a public notice signed by FIRS Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, PhD, who urged businesses to leverage this new feature.
According to the notice, newly registered business entities can now complete their registration with the FIRS independently, as highlighted by the statement, “Every newly registered corporate/business entity assigned with a Tax Identification Number (TIN) automatically at the point of registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) can now complete their registration with the FIRS on TaxPro-Max and follow the prompt for registration.”
This move is seen as a step towards streamlining tax processes and fostering efficiency in Nigeria’s tax system.
The introduction of the self-registration module aligns with FIRS’s ongoing reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business and increasing revenue collection.
Previously, FIRS had migrated from the e-TIP platform to Tax-Pro Max for filing transfer pricing returns and Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR).
The service also granted businesses until July 30, 2024, to settle outstanding filing returns, waiving penalties for those complying before the deadline.
These initiatives reflect FIRS’s broader goal of boosting Nigeria’s tax-to-GDP ratio from approximately 10% to 18% within a three-year timeframe, underscoring its commitment to driving economic growth through efficient tax administration.
