The Council of Governors and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) has joined forces to introduce a pioneering program aimed at effectively managing the displacement of individuals during disasters.
Mombasa County, under the leadership of Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, has been selected as the inaugural location for the UNCDF’s pilot program.
The decision was based on a recent comprehensive assessment of disaster displacement in Mombasa County, conducted through the collaborative efforts of the UNCDF and the Council of Governors.
Governor Nassir expressed pride in his administration’s selection as the recipient of this crucial program, highlighting the joint effort’s success in identifying key priorities that will significantly contribute to enhancing disaster mitigation strategies in the region.
The initiative was officially launched following a high-level entry meeting chaired by Governor Nassir and attended by representatives from both the UNCDF and the Council of Governors.
