The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has revealed that a staggering 4,000 ocean-going vessels make their way to Nigeria’s seaports each year
This revelation was made by the Managing Director of the NPA, Mohammed Bello-Koko, during the inauguration of the Mission to Seafarers (MTS) center in Lagos.
Bello-Koko further disclosed that at least 6,000 seafarers visit the country’s seaports every month, culminating in an annual total of over 72,000 seafarers.
In his statement, Bello-Koko emphasized the importance of enhancing collaborations with global institutions like the MTS to promote shore leave and crew changes.
These measures are expected to not only benefit coastal tourism but also contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s blue economy.
