Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) has informed its customers that, starting from December 1, 2023, it will no longer accept payments via cheques.
This decision comes on the back of the announcement made by Bank of Botswana and Bankers Association of Botswana on the discontinuation of cheques as mode of payment in Botswana on the January 1st, 2023.
Following this announcement, BTC has availed variouse alternative digital payment channels to allow for ease of payent directly into customer’s accounts.
According to the Corporation customers are now able to pay their BTC invoices from the following platforms;
- BTC Website
- BTC Mobile App
- BTC Smega
- Emailed BTC invoice by clicking the green Pay Now Button for direct payments
They further encouraged customers who pay through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or any other platform that has not been provided by BTC to capture their account number as their reference.
