Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum, Davis Chirchir has this morning met with Safaricom PLC, one of Kenya’s largest power consumers.
Accompanied by Kenya Power CEO and MD Eng. (Dr) Joseph Siror and Secretary Renewable Energy, Isaac Kiva, Chirchir engaged in fruitful discussions with Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa and key members of his executive management team.
The visit forms part of the broader energy sector drive, focused on gaining insight into Safaricom’s power consumption needs and identifying how the Ministry, primarily through Kenya Power and Lighting Company Plc, could further support growth in Kenya’s commercial and manufacturing sectors.
CS Chirchir underscored the importance of nurturing existing relationships, stating, “To drive manufacturing and attract new investments we must learn to take care of our already existing clients.”
