Mrs Vera De Sousa, Minister of Finance, Angola has emerged as Africa Public Sector magazine’s “Minister of the Week” for the Month August 14th-20th, 2022 rankings.
The Public Speaker, Leader and the voice of the main spectrum of the economy of Angola has been chosen following her remarkable feat as the first woman to be appointed the Finance Minister in Angola. Despite holding one of the highest ranks of job as a public leader, she has to her laurel excellence and growth since her resume of office, some of which will be revealed in this story.
In 2016, Mrs Vera rose through success from the age of 31 where she was appointed head of Luanda’s Capital Markets Commission. She has rose through several ranks and milestones and we can justify her ministry has been able to restructure the economy to survive amidst the pandemic and still maintain stability.
Following her outstanding contributions and laudable achievement to promoting the interest and wellbeing of Angola Finances and wealth, managing and sustainability of the economy, she has won our criteria of being the MoW ratings for this week.
Africa Public Sector Magazine’s Minister of the Week is targeted at showcasing the achievements of ministers across the African continent; by promoting their good works, right policies and exceptional leadership in various ministries across Africa.
It’s also aimed at inspiring public service officials to be competitive and promote efficient service delivery for African citizens.
Mrs. Vera Esperança dos Santos Daves de Sousa, was born in Luanda and has a degree in Economics
from the Catholic University of Angola (UCAN). She is the first woman to be appointed as Minister of
Finance in Angola. Until the date of her appointment she was Secretary of State for Finance and
Treasury. Her curriculum includes the Course on Banking Techniques and Practices by the Institute for
Banking Training in Portugal, and Derivatives and Bond Markets Course (ICAP). She has worked as
finance technician at Sonangol ESSA, Director of the Products and Research Office in Banco Privado
Atlântico, Lecturer of Financial Markets at the Executive MBA promoted by the Catholic Business School Alliance, Lecturer of Public Finance and Economic Integration at UCAN – Business School.
