The Public Service Commission (PSC) of Zimbabwe has expressed full solidarity with President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and the nation’s youth, actively participating in the 2026 National Youth Day commemorations held on February 21 under the inspiring theme “Youth Agenda for Transformation.”
Led by Chairman Dr. Vincent Hungwe and Secretary Mrs. Sibusisiwe Zembe, the PSC delegation—including Commissioners, Heads, and General Managers—turned out in strong numbers at the event hosted at Igava Training Centre (also referred to as Igava Vocational Training Centre) in Marondera, Mashonaland East Province. The high-level representation underscored the Commission’s dedication to youth development and its role in national transformation efforts.

In a statement, the PSC described the theme as a powerful “rallying call and declaration of intent,” urging young Zimbabweans to innovate, lead with integrity, demonstrate resourcefulness, and actively contribute to nation-building. “Transformation does not occur in isolation,” the Commission emphasized. “It is the cumulative result of young people who dare to show up, to contribute, and to build a better Zimbabwe – a Zimbabwe Fit for All.”

As the country’s largest employer and a cornerstone of public administration, the PSC highlighted its steadfast commitment to youth empowerment, inclusion, and career advancement. This aligns with the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and the long-term goals of Vision 2030, positioning young people as a vital national asset whose energy, ingenuity, and ambition are essential for sustainable development, excellent service delivery, and inclusive economic growth.
A major highlight of the PSC’s participation was a vibrant career fair that drew significant engagement from attendees. Young Zimbabweans received personalized career guidance and counseling from experienced human resources professionals, explored diverse opportunities across government ministries, departments, and agencies, and registered for potential employment in the public sector. Interactive sessions provided mentorship, allowed direct questions, and showcased career pathways in areas such as administration, finance, health, education, and technical services.
The career fair team was led by General Managers Mrs. M. Mzumara and Mrs. G. Machakaire.

The PSC reiterated that investing in youth is a deliberate national strategy to foster a capable, ethical, and future-ready public service. As Zimbabwe advances toward Vision 2030 under President Mnangagwa’s leadership, the Commission pledged to continue nurturing a competent, vibrant workforce that empowers the next generation to lead, serve, and contribute to a more prosperous nation for all.
National Youth Day, observed annually on February 21 to mark the birthday of late founding President Robert Gabriel Mugabe, serves as a platform to celebrate youth contributions while promoting empowerment, skills development, and patriotism. This year’s event, attended by thousands, reinforced the central role of young people as active architects of Zimbabwe’s ongoing transformation.
