Mr Lesego Caster Moseki has taken the helm as Governor of the Bank of Botswana, bringing to the role three decades of institutional knowledge, technical mastery, and a deep-rooted commitment to the nation’s economic resilience.
A career central banker who has spent his entire professional journey within the Bank of Botswana, Moseki represents continuity, competence, and quiet authority at a time when monetary policy, financial stability, and digital transformation demand steady, trusted leadership.
Moseki first walked through the doors of the Bank in September 1994 as an Assistant Supervisor in what was then the International Department, later renamed Financial Markets. Over the years he climbed every rung of the ladder, earning a reputation for precision in foreign reserves management and flawless execution of monetary policy operations.
By September 2020, he had risen to Director of the Financial Markets Department, overseeing the investment of Botswana’s foreign exchange reserves and the day-to-day implementation of monetary policy decisions. In February 2025, he was appointed Deputy Governor, assuming broad responsibility for policy formulation and the overall administration of the Bank,an appointment widely seen as the natural precursor to the governorship.
