The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (), Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto, has concluded a series of high-level meetings in Columbus, Ohio, aimed at strengthening cultural ties and driving international investment, a move to bolster Ghana’s creative economy
The visit, focused on cultural and creative diplomacy, saw Mrs. Houadjeto engage with leaders from prominent U.S. arts institutions, including the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA), the Greater Columbus Arts Council, and Columbus Artway Inc. The discussions centered on building sustainable partnerships that bridge the gap between tourism, culture, and financial investment.

A key outcome of these engagements is the planned arrival of a Creative Arts & Investment Delegation to Ghana in early 2026. This initiative is designed to connect Ghanaian artists and creatives directly with international investors, art patrons, and institutions, creating new pathways for growth and global collaboration.
“The arts tell the story of our people—they are the soul of Ghana’s tourism identity,” stated Mrs. Houadjeto during the visit.

This strategic push reinforces the West African nation’s broader ambition to establish itself as Africa’s Creative Capital. By promoting cultural exchange across sectors like music, theatre, film, and visual arts, Ghana aims to not only showcase its rich heritage but also to generate jobs, attract investment, and increase global visibility for its artistic talent.
The planned 2026 delegation is expected to be a landmark event, solidifying the connections made in Columbus and turning diplomatic dialogue into tangible opportunities for Ghana’s creative community.
