South Africa’s Minister of Small Business Development Stella Ndabeni officially unveiled the Mafikeng Digital Innovation Hub (MDIH), heralding a collaborative vision with the Department of Small Business Development, the Small Enterprise Development Finance Agency (SEDFA), and the North West Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation, and Tourism to empower local innovators and small businesses.

Since its establishment in 2020, the hub has supported over 230 enterprises—90% black-owned, 80% youth-owned, and 60% women-owned—spurring the creation of 763 jobs and laying a foundation for economic resilience in the region.

Positioned as a beacon of creativity and entrepreneurship, MDIH is driving technological adaptation and inclusive economic growth by fostering participation in cutting-edge fields such as AI, robotics, 3D printing, animation, and drone technology, ensuring the North West Province remains competitive in the digital era.

Beyond offering physical space and resources, the hub is cultivating a vibrant community where innovative ideas transform into sustainable businesses, bolstering local economies and job creation across the province. Minister Ndabeni emphasized the hub’s role in bridging digital divides, stating, “This is a step toward a future where every entrepreneur, regardless of background, can thrive and contribute to our nation’s prosperity.”
