The Energy Commission of Ghana welcomed a high-level delegation from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) at its Accra headquarters to discuss collaboration on Energy Efficiency Standards and Labelling (S&L) Programmes, marking a significant step toward regional cooperation in sustainable energy practices.
The meeting, a key part of SON’s preparations for launching the Nigerian Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme (SONMELS), was led by Engr. Enebi Shaibu Onucheyo, SON’s Director of Product Certification and Chairman of the SONMELS Implementation Committee, and Mr. Kennedy Amankwa, Assistant Director of Energy Efficiency at the Energy Commission of Ghana. The initiative aims to enforce Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for air conditioners, refrigerators, and lighting products in Nigeria.
