President Bassirou Diomaye Faye welcomed Christel Heydemann, Chief Executive Officer of the Orange Group, at the Palace of the Republic on Wednesday, marking a significant step in strengthening Senegal’s digital landscape.
The high-level meeting followed the Sonatel Group’s participation in the second edition of the Invest in Senegal Forum, where the telecom giant reaffirmed its role as a strategic partner in the nation’s development.
During the discussions, Heydemann emphasized Orange’s commitment to supporting President Faye’s vision for a technological New Deal. She outlined the company’s plans to enhance nationwide connectivity and roll out a robust high-speed broadband strategy to drive economic and social progress.
The initiative aims to transform key sectors, including education, professional training, public administration modernization, and business efficiency.
“Digital technology is a cornerstone of development,” Heydemann stated, highlighting Orange’s dedication to bridging connectivity gaps and fostering innovation across Senegal.

The Orange Group, through its subsidiary Sonatel, has been a longstanding partner in the country’s telecommunications sector, and this meeting signals a deepened commitment to advancing Senegal’s digital transformation.
The Invest in Senegal Forum provided a platform for Sonatel to showcase its contributions to the nation’s growth, aligning with President Faye’s agenda to leverage technology for sustainable development.
The partnership is expected to accelerate digital inclusion and empower communities through improved access to high-speed internet and innovative digital solutions.
