The Volta River Authority (VRA) is intensifying efforts to foster collaboration across Ghana’s energy sector, with its Corporate Affairs and External Relations Directorate spearheading a series of high-level engagements with key institutions, including the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), Bui Power Authority (BPA), and the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition (MoEn>).
The initiative, launched in recent weeks, aims to enhance communication, share best practices, and drive sustainable development in the energy sector.
At the PURC’s Accra headquarters, VRA’s Director of Corporate Affairs and External Relations, Mr. David Adomako Mensah, led a delegation to meet with PURC’s Director of Research and Corporate Affairs, Dr. Eric Kofi Obutey. Mensah emphasized that transparent and timely communication is vital for building public trust and sustaining confidence in both regulatory and utility services.
Dr. Obutey echoed this sentiment, highlighting the need for synergy to improve sector-wide messaging and public understanding of regulatory policies. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for joint initiatives, including capacity-building programs and coordinated public awareness campaigns to better serve stakeholders.
In a parallel effort, the VRA team visited the Bui Power Authority’s Public Relations Unit. BPA’s Chief Executive Officer, Ing. Kow Eduakwa Sam, praised the visit as a testament to the strong ties between the two institutions. “Continuous collaboration is key to advancing Ghana’s energy goals,” Sam noted.

Mensah commended BPA’s openness, stating, “As key players in Ghana’s power sector, leveraging each other’s strengths fosters synergies that amplify our collective impact.” BPA’s Public Relations Manager, Mr. Mawuli Fui Kwadzovia, shared insights into BPA’s operations and expressed eagerness to deepen the partnership, with plans for a reciprocal visit to VRA.
The VRA also engaged the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, where Manager of Corporate Communications and Branding, Mr. Francis Abban, led discussions with the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Mr. Richmond Rockson. The meeting focused on unified communication strategies to promote Ghana’s green energy agenda and highlight VRA’s role in sustainable power solutions. Rockson lauded VRA’s proactive approach, emphasizing that closer collaboration ensures consistency and transparency in public engagement.
