The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced the appointment of Mr. Andy Odeh as Chief Corporate Communications Officer and Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi as Chief Relations Officer.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the company described both appointees as seasoned professionals whose wealth of experience would strengthen its communication and stakeholder engagement strategy.
“NNPC Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of two seasoned executives, Mr. Andy Odeh and Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi, to key leadership positions. Mr. Odeh assumes the role of Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Mrs. Adewunmi has been appointed Chief Relations Officer,” the statement read.
Mr. Odeh brings over 30 years of experience spanning communications, advertising, broadcasting, and oil and gas administration. He previously held senior positions in community relations, business logistics, information management, corporate affairs, and government relations. Most recently, he served as General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development at Nigeria LNG (NLNG).
Recognized for managing major public relations campaigns and driving rebranding initiatives, Odeh also instituted the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting and oversaw one of Nigeria’s most successful micro-credit schemes for host communities. He is an alumnus of the University of Jos, the University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi, who now takes up the role of Chief Relations Officer, is a legal professional with more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas sector. She previously worked with Shell, where she served as Regulatory Affairs Manager and Government Relations Manager, building strong networks with the Presidency, ministries, and key regulatory agencies.
NNPC Ltd. highlighted her expertise in navigating complex external environments, ensuring compliance, and safeguarding the company’s license to operate. Known for her leadership, emotional intelligence, and stakeholder management skills, Adewunmi has built a reputation as a subject matter expert in non-technical risks. She studied law at Olabisi Onabanjo University and the Nigerian Law School.
