The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has announced that Nigeria’s daily natural gas production averaged 7.59 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) in July 2025, marking an 8.58% increase year-on-year compared to 2024 levels.
At the same time, gas flaring dropped to 7.16%, the lowest in three years, despite rising production. The Commission credited this to its ongoing programmes, including the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme (NGFCP) and its Decarbonisation and Sustainability Blueprint, which are advancing Nigeria’s goal of achieving zero routine flaring by 2030.
NUPRC data further showed that gas-to-power supply climbed to 862.86 MMSCF/D in July, the highest in three months, while compliance with the Domestic Gas Delivery Obligation (DGDO) stood at 72.5%.
Performance under the Domestic Gas Delivery Obligation (DGDO) improved to 72.5% in July, compared to 71.8% in June. Earlier in 2025, DGDO stood at 72.2% in January, peaked at 73.5% in February, dipped to 70.8% in March, before climbing again to 73.7% and 73.0% in April and May, respectively.
