The Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) has announced a temporary interruption in water supply following damage to the raw water transmission pipeline serving the Kpong Treatment Plant. The incident occurred on Thursday, 28 August 2025, and has forced management to shut down operations at the facility to allow for emergency repair works.
According to GWL, the repair exercise has already commenced and is expected to last for three days. Normal water supply will resume once the works are completed.
As a result, water supply to the entire Tema Metropolis and several parts of Accra will be affected. Impacted areas include Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, parts of East Legon, and surrounding communities.
Management has assured the public that every effort is being made to complete the repairs within the shortest possible time and restore regular supply.
