A delegation from the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), led by Arnold M’bwana, Chairman of its Finance and Audit Committee, is in Namibia for a benchmarking visit with the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA). The visit, which began this week, aims to study NamRA’s organizational structure, governance frameworks, and the operations of its Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS).
NamRA Commissioner Sam Shivute warmly welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the value of regional collaboration among revenue authorities. “We are honored to host the MRA delegation,” Shivute said, noting that the visit fosters mutual learning and continuous improvement. He highlighted NamRA’s own growth through knowledge-sharing with African peers and development partners.

M’bwana, speaking on behalf of the MRA, underscored the importance of the visit as the organization nears the end of its current strategic plan in 2026. “With new leadership in place, we are shaping MRA’s direction for the next 25 years,” he said. The delegation, which includes MRA Commissioner General Daniel Daka and senior management, is engaging with NamRA’s leadership and technical teams to explore strategies, institutional setups, and advanced technology systems critical to NamRA’s mandate.
The visit reflects a growing trend of African revenue authorities collaborating to enhance tax administration efficiency.
