Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and Angola’s Agency for Private Investment and Promotion of Exports (AIPEX) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen trade partnership, an action that has influenced the cordial relationship between the two nations.
This strategic move further enhances the long-standing diplomatic ties between Tanzania and Angola and signals a renewed commitment to economic collaboration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
The President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan’s and the President of Angola, João Lourenço, both announced that the joint initiatives will deepen cooperation in key sectors, including agriculture, tourism, industry, and the blue economy.
Meanwhile, President Samia emphasized the significance of leveraging regional integration mechanisms, such as the SADC Free Trade Area and AfCFTA, to maximize shared growth opportunities.

She stated that: “We also want together to further facilitate trade and encourage our business people to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the SADC free trade area and African continental free trade area to maintain this momentum.”
A major highlight of the discussions was Tanzania’s support for the Lobito Corridor project, a transcontinental trade route designed to connect the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Lourenço described the corridor as a transformative initiative that will enhance Africa’s connectivity with global markets by improving efficiency and reducing the cost of commodity exports.
To further promote tourism and people-to-people relations, Tanzania announced the exemption of Angolan citizens from tourist visa requirements, noting that noted that this move would significantly ease travel, boost tourism, and open up new avenues for investment.
Majorly, Tanzania and Angola will formalize the visit as a session for collaboration on the indications of political dialogue, economic growth, regional integration, and coordination in multilateral areas. In this, Lamola remarked that the commission reflects an endorsed common view in terms of consolidating bilateral relations and amplifying Africa’s voice at the global stage.
