The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the cancellation of all import declarations made during the implementation period of the now-suspended 4% Free-on-Board (FOB) charge on imports.
The announcement signed by Abdullahi Maiwada, Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Comptroller-General, aimed at ensuring clarity and maintaining consistency in customs operations, requires affected importers and agents to recapture their entries to proceed with goods clearance.
In the statement, stakeholders were directed to promptly re-enter their declarations through designated customs processing platforms. The agency assured that measures have been put in place to facilitate a seamless process, with Customs Commands nationwide instructed to provide necessary assistance and clarifications to importers and agents.

The decision aligns with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and underscores the Service’s commitment to implementing government fiscal policies through extensive consultation and dialogue with stakeholders. The cancellation of previous declarations, according to the NCS, is part of broader efforts to enhance efficiency and ensure a public-centric approach to service delivery.
Under the leadership of Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the NCS reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and engagement with traders. The agency urged all affected stakeholders to take advantage of the directive and recapture their entries promptly to avoid further delays in clearing consignments.
