The Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has presented the Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation for the first quarter of 2025 to Parliament. This mini-budget, totaling GH¢68.1 billion, aims to cover essential government expenses from January to March 2025, ensuring operational continuity until a full budget is presented by the incoming administration.
Key allocations include salaries of public sector workers, statutory payments, critical infrastructure maintenance, and funding for social intervention programs. This provision is a constitutional requirement during a transition year to prevent fiscal disruptions.
Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Asiamah Amoako has referred the document to the Budget and Finance Committees for detailed review. These committees will scrutinize the figures and policies before reporting back to the House for debate and approval.
Parliament is scheduled to reconvene on January 2, 2025, for the Finance Minister’s formal budget presentation, followed by discussions and deliberations.
