Parliament has appointed Emmanuel Ahumah Djietror as the new Clerk of the House. His appointment was confirmed during an extraordinary meeting of the Parliamentary Service Board in November this year.
Mr. Djietror, one of three applicants for the position, will succeed the current Clerk, Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah, who is set to retire in February 2025. With Mr. Nsiah proceeding on leave on December 31, 2024, Mr. Djietror’s tenure will commence on January 1, 2025.
An experienced lawyer, Mr. Djietror is recognized as one of the longest-serving procedural Clerks in the House. He has served as the Clerk at Table of the House and has also been the Clerk to various Committees of Parliament, including the Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, the Business Committee, the Committee on Judiciary, and the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
One of Mr. Djietror’s initial responsibilities will be overseeing the election of the Speaker of the ninth Parliament on January 7, 2025. His extensive experience and procedural expertise are expected to significantly contribute to the efficient running of Parliament and the management of the Parliamentary Service.
