The Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, represented by the General Manager, Marine Division, Capt, Jerome Angyunwe, has honored the invitation from the Nigerian Maritime Pilots Association (NMPA) to participate in an enriching symposium in Lagos, focused on the theme, “Precision and Safety: Pillars of Modern Pilotage”.
This theme aligns perfectly with our Authority’s renewed safety orientation and reflects the thematic focus of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Other dignitaries at the symposium include Capt. Sunday Umoren of the Abuja MoU, and Capt. Ibrahim Olugbade, Executive Director, Sifax Group.
In his address, the Managing Director commended the NMPA management team for their visionary approach in prioritizing this essential discussion and applauded their unwavering commitment to safety standards, which have significantly reduced major accidents on our waterways.
He also requested an executive summary of actionable ideas that will shape the technical sessions for implementation.
The Managing Director emphasized that achieving our strategic goal of becoming a regional hub—by more effectively servicing domestic cargo demands and catering to the maritime needs of our landlocked neighbors—relies heavily on policy-driven initiatives like this symposium.
These gatherings foster collaboration among experts to transform innovative ideas into practical strategies for designing, managing, and operating our ports, especially as we advance our port modernization program.
