President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo officially launched the National Service Authority (NSA) on Friday, replacing the former National Service Scheme (NSS). This historic event, held in Accra, marked the government’s heightened commitment to preparing young Ghanaians for leadership and service.
This transformation aims to promote sustainable socio-economic growth. The President also added that the modernization of the Authority’s operations will better prepare the youth for national service and future leadership roles.
The creation of the NSA follows the passage of the National Service Authority Bill, 2024, by Parliament, a step that paves the way for restructuring the national service framework.
With a renewed focus on training, skills development, and fostering values like nationalism and discipline, the NSA is set to address the employment challenges facing fresh graduates.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of prioritizing key sectors such as health, agriculture, and ICT to advance the nation’s development agenda.
Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum praised the President’s leadership in this crucial initiative, reaffirming that the NSA will continue to receive government support.
The President, as Patron of the Authority, expressed confidence that the new framework will enhance collaboration between institutions, providing a safety net for graduates post-service.
He urged the NSA’s leadership to fine-tune operations to ensure the Authority’s sustainable growth and success.
