Ghana Water Company Limited’s Central Region branch has announced a significant improvement in the water supply for Cape Coast, Elmina, and surrounding communities following efforts by the Central Regional Security Council.
The Sekyere Hemang Water Treatment Plant, which had previously recorded alarmingly high turbidity levels of 14,000 NTU, has seen these levels drop to 9,000 NTU, allowing for an increase in water production.
This positive shift, led by the Honorable Minister Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan and the Central Regional Security Council, has enabled the plant to boost production from 1,981,290 gallons per day to 2,773,807 gallons per day.
The management of Ghana Water Limited expressed gratitude to the Central Regional Security Council for their swift intervention in improving the raw water source.
“We want to assure our cherished customers that every effort is being made to supply adequate water to meet their needs,” said Seth Eric Atiapah, Chief Manager for the Central Region.
The company also emphasized its commitment to keeping the public informed of any further changes in water quality and urged residents to use drinking water wisely during this period of recovery.
