President Bola Tinubu has urged newly appointed Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Areias, to prioritize establishing direct flights between the two nations.
This call was made during a ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, where Tinubu received the ambassador’s letter of credence.
The president emphasized the importance of this direct air connectivity in strengthening the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Brazil.
President Tinubu reflected on his discussions with Brazilian President Lula da Silva regarding this issue, which took place in February during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The president underscored Nigeria’s eagerness to collaborate closely with Brazil to enhance bilateral ties and advance mutual interests, particularly with Brazil assuming the G20 presidency in 2024.
Additionally, President Tinubu received the letter of credence from Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, retired Vice-Admiral Seth Amoama.
He praised Ghana’s active role in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and reiterated Nigeria’s dedication to fortifying its relationship with the West African neighbor.
