The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has donated an advance laboratory equipment to facilitate pharmaceutical, biological and forensic analysis at the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC).
The equipment, procured with the support of NPA through Authentix, includes an Agilent Gas Chromatography Equipment with Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and is set to enhance pharmaceutical, biological, and forensic analysis.
Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Chief Executive of the NPA, highlighted the importance of this gesture in protecting public health and ensuring the quality of petroleum products in Ghana.
The new equipment, situated at the National Nuclear Research Institute’s organic chemistry laboratory, is designed to facilitate the detection of substandard medical products and unwholesome foods, thus improving public health safety.
At the commissioning event, Dr. Abdul-Hamid emphasized the NPA’s commitment to supporting research institutions in various sectors to foster a healthier environment.
The Board Chairman of GAEC, Dr. Kwaku Aning, expressed gratitude to NPA and Authentix, noting that the equipment would significantly improve GAEC’s capacity for timely and accurate analysis.
Director General of GAEC, Prof. Samuel Boakye Dampare, reaffirmed GAEC’s dedication to impactful research across multiple sectors, including health, agriculture, and petrochemicals.
He called for further support from the NPA to fully equip the laboratory.
