The National agency for lands, Lands Commission has revealed a convergence of stakeholders in the Bono Regional of Sunyani.
This meeting was held to deliberate and proffer expert recommendations to the proposed Legislative Instruments (LIs) under the Land Act.
The event, which commenced on Monday , June 10 ,2024 was held concurrently with another summit in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua, with the aim of getting the buy-in and input of various stakeholders on the draft LIs.
The Bono Regional Lands Officer, Surv.Jojoe Adu Hanson, welcomed participants to the region and indicated that the contributions of this engagement will ensure that the Legislative Instruments serve the interests of all stakeholders.
The RLO further urged participants to place premium on the exercise and commended the Land Act working group for their commitment to advancing the goal of the entire exercise.
Okogyeaman Kwaku Gyamprah III, Omanhene of Chirano in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai District and Vice President of the Western North Regional House of Chiefs underscored the importance of the exercise and asked that he and the traditional authorities be given ample time to study the draft and make meaningful contributions since Chiefs play a pivotal role in administering lands in their traditional areas.
Lawyer Henry Tackie, Consultant, made an insightful presentation on draft LIs, allowing participants to seek better appreciation of the regulations to set the tone for other discussions
The middle sector engagement was represented by the Western North , Bono East. Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, and the Western regions.
