Lamu Airport, in collaboration with various stakeholders has celebrated World Environment Day through a series of environmentally focused activities.
The event featured joint cleaning efforts, tree planting, and general maintenance to enhance the airport’s environment.
The Airport Manager, Felix Wanga, commended the participants for their dedication to environmental stewardship.
“I want to thank all our staff and stakeholders for being exemplary stewards of our environment,” he stated. “Today’s activities not only improve our immediate surroundings but also contribute to the global effort of preserving our planet for future generations.”
The celebration saw active participation from a diverse group of stakeholders, including the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), Jambo Jet, Skyward Express, Safarilink Aviation, Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU), Hanaleli Limited, the County Government of Lamu, Kamtrix Cleaners Limited, Lamu Porters Association, and the Manda Youth Action Group.
This collaborative effort underscores the importance of community involvement in environmental conservation initiatives.
This initiatives align with KAA’s broader environmental sustainability policies, which emphasize on minimizing adverse impacts on the environment and promoting an environmentally responsible culture among staff and stakeholders.
