The Meru High Court has suspended the ban on the use and distribution of muguka in Mombasa and Kilifi counties until July 8, when the case against the prohibition will be heard.
The move comes after Kutherema muguka Sacco and Embu County Assembly applied for conservatory orders to bar the two county governors from enforcing the ban on muguka trade.
Justice Lucy Njuguna issued the conservatory orders, restraining the respondents or their agents from interfering with the muguka trade at the coast.
Governors from Mombasa, Kilifi, and Taita-Taveta have agreed to participate in talks led by the Agriculture Ministry on the trade of muguka.
This follows a phone call with President William Ruto, who had a conversation with the Governors on their concerns regarding the sale of muguka.
