Comptroller Kola Oladeji, in charge of the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, has visited the Ogun State Commissioner of Police (CP), Abiodun Alamutu.
This is in an effort to strengthen the already existing synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigeria Police Force.
Comptroller Oladeji made the courtesy call to the Ogun State Police Headquarters on Tuesday, 21 May 2024.
Stating the purpose of his visit, the Unit Head emphasised the importance of Ogun state to the operations of the Service.
He appreciated the CP for the cordial relationship between the Police Force and the NCS.
He says, “We consider Ogun state strategic to our operations; most of the border areas in the Southwest are within the border areas of Ogun state, and we have been benefiting from our relationship with the Nigeria Police”.
“I have come to pay a courtesy call and to thank the command on behalf of the Nigeria Customs Service. You can rest assured that anytime you call on us, we are ready to serve”, he stated.
Welcoming his guests, CP Alamutu stated that their presence “is a testament to the strong synergy and partnership that has been existing in our agencies, especially in our effort to ensure that there is peace and security in our nation”.
He reassured that the Ogun State Command is strongly in tune with the NCS and is working collaboratively to ensure peace and security in the state.
Similarly, Comptroller Oladeji strengthened Customs Community Relations in Ilaro Community when he visited His Royal Majesty, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land.
He stated that his visit is in line with the directive of the Comptroller General of Customs to move closer to the community, “in fact, we are expected to establish Customs Community Relations and familiarise ourselves with border communities. I believe that if the Traditional Rulers, who are the custodians of culture, can talk to all subjects on the workings of customs, we will have fewer infractions”.
In response, the Olu of Ilaro acknowledged that the relationship between Customs and the community has been cordial.
“In recent times, we have been having a peaceful and very cordial relationship with customs. Yes, there might be friction here and there, but the way most of your officers now respond shows that professionalism is now being displayed”. He said.
He assured of his support and offered prayers to the team for a successful reign.
