Retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme took to the streets of Abuja on Tuesday, protesting several months of unpaid pensions.
Arriving from various state chapters, the retirees voiced their frustration over the severe hardships they have been facing due to the National Pension Commission’s (PENCOM) inability to disburse their entitlements.
Holding placards and chanting slogans like “All we are saying give us our right,” the former officers highlighted the growing desperation among their ranks.
The protest, captured in a video shared on Channels TV’s X handle, showcased the ex-officers’ plea for the Federal Government to exempt them from the contributory pension scheme.
They argue that the current system has failed to provide timely and adequate financial support, leaving many of their members in dire straits.
The retirees emphasized that their demands are not just about financial relief but also about receiving the respect and recognition they deserve after years of service to the nation.
