The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji PhD, has called for a smooth transition of the leadership positions in ATAF. He made this call while delivering his opening remarks at the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) Council Strategy Meeting which took place in Lagos, earlier today.
According to the Executive chairman’s remarks, he stated the need for strong leadership whilst admitting that the success of ATAF depends on the collective efforts and leadership of all members and ensuring that ATAF as a multilateral organization, showcases the best Africa has to offer from all regions of Africa – West, East, Southern, Central and Northern Africa which the ATAF Council membership is a good example.
During his presentation, Mr. Adedeji highlighted the following salient commendations from his remarks; he said, “Management of the Secretariat is also vital to the success of the Organization”.
Secondly, he noted that ATAF must prioritize the process of a smooth transition in the meeting as the term of the current Executive Secretary comes to an end in March 2025 when Mr. Logan Wort would have served for 16 years of meritorious efforts.
In conclusion, he reiterates that they need to ensure the sustainability of the organization to uphold the tenets of ATAF founding agreement and rules and be committed to abiding by them in their decision-making processes.
