President Bola Tinubu has approved a $700 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Harbour.
The approved funds are allocated for the construction of seven crucial road projects connecting Lekki, flying over lagoons, and terminating around Shagamu.
The announcement was made by Abiodun Dabiri, Chairman of the Lekki Free Trade Zone, during the arrival of the CMA-CGM Scandola, the largest Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) powered vessel, at the Lekki Deep Seaport on Monday.
President Tinubu’s commitment to supporting vital investor initiatives, including the Lekki port, aims to harness the nation’s rich blue economy within the maritime domain.
Dabiri expressed gratitude, stating, “This road is clearly going to be a game-changer; it will facilitate the evacuation of goods and services into the hinterlands.”
He further urged the connection of the port to the National railway, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive transportation network to complement the significant road expansion and enhance overall efficiency in the region’s economic activities.
