President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured the people of Ghana that there will be no coup under his leadership.
This statement was made during a national broadcast marking Constitution Day.
Emphasizing his commitment to upholding the constitution and preserving the country’s democracy, the President declared, “It will not be under my watch that any adventurer will seek to torpedo the democratic path on which we have embarked.”
President Akufo-Addo, who took the oath of office in 2017 and renewed it in 2021, pledged to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election in December 2024.
As Ghana commemorates Constitution Day, declared a holiday on January 8, citizens are encouraged to embrace the fundamental values of democratic accountability, rule of law, and individual liberties that form the bedrock of the nation’s development.
Constitution Day serves as a tribute to Ghana’s 4th republican constitutional dispensation that commenced on January 7, 1993.
President Akufo-Addo urged his fellow Ghanaians to rededicate themselves to the democratic cause and emphasized the importance of both liberty and duty in building a free society.
The President encouraged citizens to uphold their responsibility to contribute proactively to the greater good of society.
