On the margins of COP28, Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has engaged a ministerial side event focused on “buildings and construction for sustainable cities: new key partnerships for decarbonization, adaptation, and resilience.”
The event, organized by the Forests and Climate Leaders Partnership (FCLP), featured Secretary Tuya presenting an statement on behalf of the 17-member state Coalition on Greening Construction with Sustainable Wood.
This coalition, an initiative coordinated by Kenya, Canada, and France, aligns with FCLP’s mission to bring together 28 countries and the European Union (EU) to combat forest loss and land degradation by 2030, while concurrently fostering sustainable development and promoting inclusive rural transformation.
The FCLP was Founded in response to a commitment made by over 140 world leaders at the United Nations COP26 in Glasgow, UK.
The partnership ultimately seeks to halt and reverse environmental degradation, showcasing the global community’s dedication to addressing climate change.
The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving these milestones, reaffirming the commitment of nations towards a sustainable and resilient future.
