Messina Shipping Line has marked a historic moment at the Port of Mombasa as they have introduce their first-ever full container vessel, MV Jolly Argento.
The vessel made its maiden voyage from Genoa, Italy, and signals a significant shift in the shipping line’s operations at the port.
Messina has operated at port of Mombasa for 35 years, bringing in mostly RO-RO vessels carrying motor vehicle units.
However, Captain Giuseppe Fedele, the Regional Managing Director of Messina, emphasized the strategic importance of Kenya and specifically the Port of Mombasa in the company’s plans to diversify investments within the region.
The shipping line envisions elevating the Port of Mombasa to serve as a central hub for its expanding operations.
