Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has led a delegation of officials from the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to visit communities affected by the recent Akosombo Dam Spillage.
The visit aimed to assess the situation and provide relief to the affected areas.
The Minister expressed the government’s commitment to supporting the affected communities and reiterated the collaborative efforts between various stakeholders to provide assistance.
Chief of Mepe Mankralo Hevi Borbodzi and the District Chief Executive of Central Tongu, Hon. Thomas Moore Zonyrah, commended the government’s efforts and expressed gratitude for the interventions made so far.
The delegation donated essential relief items, including food, mackerel, and solar lamps, to assist the affected residents.
The Minister is expected to appear before Parliament with officials of the VRA on Wednesday, 8th November, 2023 to provide the house with an update on the interventions so far on the dam spillage so far.
