President Bola Tinubu has affirmed his commitment to reforming Nigeria’s financial system and ensuring a transparent budgetary process.
Speaking during a gathering at the Lagos House, Marina, hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the attendees, including former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, for their presence.
He emphasized the urgency of stopping the financial bleeding caused by fuel subsidies and highlighted the need to re-engineer the management and control of the country’s resources.
Tinubu stressed the importance of transparency in economic planning and budgeting to meet the obligations owed to Nigerians and bring about lasting benefits for future generations.
President Tinubu, during the event in Lagos, vowed to operate with an open-door policy and collaborate closely with state governors to achieve true federalism in Nigeria.
Recognizing the challenges faced by the nation, he emphasized the necessity of partnership to rescue and restore the country. Tinubu reiterated that his mandate from the Nigerian people was to implement necessary changes that would benefit not only the present generation but also future ones.
He firmly stated that Nigeria could no longer afford to bear the burden of fuel subsidies and must prioritize its own financial stability.
