The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) conducted a sensitization program at a university in Ado-Ekiti, explaining the benefits of using the eNaira digital currency platform for payment of school fees.
The CBN highlighted that the eNaira platform, introduced in October 2021, aims to enhance financial transactions in line with global standards and promote economic growth.
Embracing the digital platform would offer students and staff a more efficient and convenient payment method, free from traditional payment hurdles. The CBN urged institutions to adopt the eNaira platform, citing the positive experiences of those who have already embraced it.
The bank has appointed student ambassadors who will receive stipends for promoting the use of the eNaira within the university community.
The CBN aims to extend the sensitization program beyond universities to the wider society. University officials welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the importance of embracing digital platforms for financial transactions to drive growth and development.
The eNaira platform is expected to alleviate issues such as long queues and missing funds during school fee payments.
