In a bid to bolster the nation’s security apparatus, the Government has launched the Security Equipment Modernization Programme.
Through this initiative, the National Police Service and other formed units, according to the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kithure Kindiki, will receive advanced personal protective gear, armored personnel carriers (APCs), mine-resistant ambush protected vehicles (MRAPs), drones, and gunship helicopters.
The objective is to enhance their capacity to prevent and respond to terror threats effectively.
The modernization program aims to equip security forces with state-of-the-art tools and technology, ensuring their readiness in safeguarding the country against acts of terrorism.
CS Kindiki urges public cooperation in the fight against terrorism
During public barazas held in Witu and Mpeketoni, Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kithure Kindiki, appealed to citizens to collaborate more closely with security agencies.
He encouraged the public to share valuable information and insights that could help defeat the common enemy of terrorism.
CS Kindiki emphasized the importance of a united front in countering the threat, urging residents to prioritize shared prosperity and peaceful coexistence.
Additionally, he called for the adoption of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to address long-standing conflicts related to land ownership, clashes between herders and farmers, and the unequal distribution of opportunities.
