As the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, takes the oath of office as Nigeria’s 16th President today, May 29, 2023.
Following this, nigerians have demanded quick actions in certain areas including the economy, security, fuel subsidy, and other critical sectors.
Tinubu, who was declared the winner of the February 25 presidential election, will be sworn in at a glamorous ceremony witnessed by over 300 guests and broadcast live to millions of Nigerians at home and abroad.
In preparation for the inauguration, security has been tightened in the Federal Capital Territory, and representatives of foreign governments and international organizations have begun arriving in Abuja.

Economic players, including the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), have urged President Tinubu to address critical issues within his first 100 days in office.
They expect him to tackle inflation, stabilize the exchange rate, remove fuel subsidies, revive the refineries, and deal with revenue leakages, among other economic challenges.
The private sector emphasized the need for the new administration to define its economic philosophy, build consensus, and involve stakeholders, especially the private sector, in its economic plan.
Outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari defended his regime’s policies, stating that they were for the “overall good of the country.”
He acknowledged that some measures led to temporary pain and suffering but claimed they yielded the desired results. Buhari congratulated President Tinubu, commending his hard work and passion for putting Nigeria among the leading nations of the world. He expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership abilities and believed he would take the country to greater heights.
Tinubu, in his inauguration speech, promised to live up to the expectations, stating that he knew how to find President Buhari when he needed him.
