The Ministry of Health for Bostwana has procured 342 720 tones of medicines and they are currently being distributed around the country.
His Honour Mr Slumber Tsogwane the Vice President of the Republic of Botswana said during a kgotla meeting in Mokobaxane this morning. He added that more medicine worth $ 15 million is expected to arrive.
He informed residents that the government aims to have companies producing medicines locally in order to curb the shortage the country is experiencing.
The Vice President said His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi traverse the world to attract investors to the country including pharmaceutical companies. He said the trips undertaken have produced results as one company is already producing COVID-19 vaccines in Botswana.
Honourable Tsogwane said Botswana is capable as it is currently the only country that produces foot and mouth vaccines in the region.
