The Kenya State Department for Environment and Climate Change and the Calgary University, Canada is partnering in training, capacity building and sharing of best practices in green energy transition, building technologies for the mining sector, public policy and governance among others.
The Principal Secretary of Environment and Climate Change, Eng Festus K Ng’eno on April, 20th, 2023 hosted a team from Calgary University, Canada led by Dr Louis Daniel Wilson for discussions on partnership.
The PS said the Government is keen on programming that focuses on ecosystem restoration as a value chain and support for community livelihoods for sustainability.
The PS cited Bamburi Cement’s Haller Park and Base Titanium company in Kwale as companies with best practices in ecological and environmental remediation.
The PS welcomed collaboration in the overhaul of the Environmental Management and Conservation Act (EMCA) and the amendment of the Climate Change Act.
The meeting was attended by Alem Cherinet (University of Calgary), Dr Githuru Mburu (Kipya Africa), and David Mwagiru (Canadian Embassy) among others.
